Caldwell, Kansas is celebrating its 140th birthday in unison with the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the State of Kansas so be prepared for a big weekend! Award winning Diamond W Wranglers will perform their western music Sat. Sept, 3, 7:00pm at the High School Gym. Geff Dawson will MC the concert as well as give us some of his cowboy poetry. The Cattle Drive will trail through Caldwell at about 9:30am Labor Day on their way up the Cox Trail.

Pull on your boots and hang on to your hats!! The anticipation is growing as we plan the 2011 Cattle Drive that will plod through Caldwell on Labor Day, September 5th on the trail to Ellsworth. This event, will celebrate Caldwell’s cowtown history and will be chock-full of fun and excitement for the whole family to enjoy beginning on Saturday, September 3rd.
Among the activities planned will be the 24th Annual All Wheels Car Show, a quilt show and lectures by Jeananne Wright, Kansas Humanities Speakers, Heather Ferguson and Jim Grey, chuck wagon meals, cow camp visits, concerts by the Diamond W. Wranglers and Border Bandits, and of course Caldwell’s own live entertainment at the historic Opera House. Shows include re-enactments of Caldwell’s notorious early-day citizens including gunslingers, cowboys, out-laws, marshals, saloon keepers, and dance hall girls. While in town, don’t forget to include walking tours outlined by 15 historical markers located along Caldwell’s Main Street, the “Talking Tombstones” performance at Caldwell’s Cemetery, and a visit to the Border Queen Museum.
